As we head in to autumn and winter for this year, we look ahead to what the remainder of 2016 and the first part of 2017 hold in store for fashionistas looking to fill their calendars.
Every calendar year is dominated by the world’s big four fashion weeks. While New York and London are behind us for this year, Milan Fashion Week is currently running until 27th September with Paris Fashion Week kicking-off on the 27th for seven days.
If you’re looking to catch a show in Europe this year, you still have some options available to you. In Turkey, the Istanbul Fashion Week runs for four days from 11th October until the 15th. Following that, Fashion Week Poland begins on 22nd October and also runs for four days.
A little further afield in the month of October, New York Fashion Week’s Bridal Show runs from 5th of the month until the 10th.
Kicking off 2017 in fashion
While the culmination of the Paris Fashion Week brings the main fashion events to a close for 2016, we can soon begin to look forward to 2017. January offers a perfect chance to banish those post-Christmas blues as men’s fashion season gets in to full swing.
Beginning on January 6th and running for four days, London Fashion Week Men’s will showcase the brightest new looks for the Spring and Summer season. The event is run by the British Fashion Council and more information will be released in regard to schedules in the weeks leading up to the event.
Shortly following this, Milan Fashion Week for menswear kicks-off on January 14th, followed by Paris on January 18th. Haute Couture Fashion Week overlaps, getting underway on January 22nd.
Berlin Fashion Week takes place in January also, lasting for two days from the 17th of the month. While it’s not considered one of the major Fashion Week’s, it’s often a good measure of the kinds of looks to expect the following month as the season really gets underway.
Attention turns to fully to womenswear in February as things really heat up. From February 1st, you can catch Copenhagen Fashion Week in Denmark for three days before attention turns to those major shows.
The excitement begins in New York City on Thursday 9th of February as New York Fashion Week gets underway before the London (17th-21st) and Milan (22nd-28th) fashion weeks follow. It’s all about those spring and summer collections, allowing you to cast your mind away from the grey days of winter and forward to long days on the beach.
The first week of March sees the French capital play host to Paris Fashion Week. It begins on the 1st and finishes on the 8th. Again, the world’s top fashion designers will be showing off their upcoming looks for 2017.
It also heralds the start of the show season down-under, with Melbourne Fashion Festival running much of the month of March, starting on 1st and going right through until the 19th.
